Communications

Over the course of this semester I took the 3 work shops of Architecture in Motion, Drawing Workshop & Material Modeling. With the choice of workshops and what we would work at I decided I would choose workshops that would help areas of architecture I am weakest at. I have found the Communications course this semester extremely helpful and have used it to hone in on areas I hoped to improve before the course. At the end of this semester I have already noticed that my drawing and modeling is already much more confident.

Moaterial Modelling Final

In my final composition I used the two transformative actions of 'Elevation' & 'Enclosed with Arches'. The second floor was elevated yet only using the interior wall lay out and the exterior walls changed to glass above ground. The building was intentionally set into a more natural environment and the first floor sunk into a hill and the environment. The top floor is meant to be more of an experience of light and space. Distorting and fracturing the original wall plan and enclosing the space with arches was used as an attempt to make this space a little more organic and interesting. I had intended for the second floor to be accessed by a walkway from the mountain scape behind so that the two spaces, despite being connected, where actually two seperate experiences. I was not able to show this through the model and feel that it is let down by this aspect.

Material Modelling

Images include in class cube exercise and first assignment. The model is a 1:50 scale model of 3/4 of my own apartment taking note of wall thicknesses and how it is connected to surrounding apartments.

Final Composition; 3D Images

These are the 3D images that I used in my final composition. When I visited the Rose Seidler House I walked around the exterior and did small studies of parts of the building I found most interesting. I then re-did these in different styles I had observed by looking at other architects drawings. I then linked them together over 2 A3 pages to give a almost a walk around feel of the building.

Drawing Work Shop

This series of images is the part of the final composition that includes plans, sections and elevations of the Rose Seidler House. I have tried to set up the two pages that all images link up some how, accentuating this by extending the guide lines and leaving them visible on the final design.

Drawing Workshop; In Class and Practise Exercises

This series of images are some of the in class exercises used to improve drawing skills in preparation for the final composition.
